Kandi Burruss takes haircare very seriously — so seriously, in fact, that The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum installed a full hair salon inside her Georgia home.

How to Watch

Fans got a peek at the luxurious space in a recent Instagram post shared by Derek J, Kandi's longtime friend/hairstylist who made his Bravo debut in RHOA Season 1.

“I was at Kandi’s house this week and she has an in-home salon that got a little bit out of control, so I came in to get it reorganized and get it back together,” Derek J said in a March 13 Instagram. “So this is me pulling it back together and getting it to a space where I can think clearly. Now y’all haven’t even seen her wig stuff yet; I’ll show y’all that next week."

The video showed the award-winning stylist hard at work sprucing up the mini salon, which featured beige tile flooring, black-and-white striped walls, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, a wash bowl, a hairdryer station, and royal purple styling chairs.

"My girl [Kandi] is a busy lady between being a mother, businesswoman, actor and traveling all over the place some spaces may get over looked," Derek J captioned the post. "I came by the house to pull her salon together and get it organized..."

“When your friend has to take things in their own hands,” she captioned the clip followed by the weary face and crying laughing emojis.

Kandi Burruss' Home Renovations and Updates

Since purchasing her home in 2012, the RHOA alum has elevated the property with many envy-inducing upgrades and next-level additions. However, the process hasn't been easy.

“We didn’t renovate. We are still renovating,” she told Bravo Insider in 2022. “We are in a terrible place of eternal renovation.”

Kandi’s husband, Todd Tucker, echoed the sentiment, saying they had spent months “dealing with contractors and all that craziness."

“Starting conversations with people [who are] supposed to do certain things, they never do it,” Kandi added, “or we get so busy, we get caught up with something else, we get another project, we start putting all our efforts into that. You know, it’s just a million different things. It’s a mess.”

Although it hasn’t been a cakewalk, the home renovation has clearly paid off. Kandi and Todd’s abode now has an incredible indoor pool, a cozy home theater, a spacious kitchen, and even a piano room.

Kandi Burruss announces her RHOA exit

Kandi shared the salon footage more than a month after announcing her RHOA exit. The mother of three, who joined the franchise in Season 2 (2009), shared the news during an interview on the 2024 Grammys red carpet.

“I decided I’m not coming back this year,” Kandi shared with Variety on February 4. “I’m going to take a break, I’m going to take a moment… I’m not coming back this year.”

Kandi expanded on her decision at the 2024 People's Choice Awards, where she was nominated for The Reality Star of the Year. The singer-songwriter told red carpet host Laverne Cox she had "a lot of love for [her] Bravo family" and said she hasn't ruled out a possible RHOA return.

"I mean, I don't want to say never. Never say never, right?" she revealed, as reported by People magazine. "But right now I just have a lot of things that I'm going after. I don't see it in my near future... This is kind of crazy but cool that my last year I said I was going to be a Real Housewife, I'm nominated as best reality star. So I guess that's a great way to go out."
