9 Things You Didn't See at the Project Runway Season 18 Finale

We've got all the behind-the-scenes secrets, straight from from the Season 18 finale.

By Jessica Butler

For months, the remaining Bravo's Project Runway designers have been hustling non-stop to make it to the Season 18 finale. Not only is the final runway a dream come true for these contestants, but it's also their last shot to show the world what they have to offer the fashion industry. So, when it came time to debut their looks at New York Fashion Week, the designers really showed up.

How to Watch

Watch Project Runway on the Bravo App and on Peacock

Although we've seen a bulk of the action on the show, there was still so much that went on behind the scenes. From celebrity and Project Runway alum attendees to backstage secrets, we have everything you need to know about the finale — all in one place.

Keep reading to find out what you didn't get to see at Fashion Week.

1. Celeb Guests

Tennis star turned fashion designer Serena Williams served as a guest judge for the finale. Diet Prada (Lindsey Schuyler and Tony Liu), Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia (Oscar de la Renta, Monse), and Karla Welch were also in attendance. We'd love to know what they thought of the designers' final runway looks.

2. Alum Attendance

Not only did a bunch of celebrities take part, but several Project Runway alums sat down to watch the show as well. Season 17 winner Sebastian Grey, Renee Hill, Kovid Kapoor, Rakan Shams Aldeen, Tessa Clark, Nick Verreos, Carlos Casanovam, Uli Herzen, and Mondo Guerra were all in attendance.

3. Who Are You Wearing?

Wondering who designed Karlie Kloss' gorgeous finale gown? It was actually our very own Brandon Maxwell!

4. The Venue

Spring Street Studios is the hub of New York Fashion Week, so it only made sense for the show to take place there. In fact, Christian Siriano opened Fashion Week and the designers closed it!

5. What Went on Backstage

It would be great to have hair, makeup, and changing areas all in one huge space, but depending on the venue, you just have to make it work. The hair and makeup studios were actually two floors up from where the designers were dressing their models for the show. Let's just say there were a lot of out-of-breath models backstage.

6. Down Time

The designers must have been exhausted after filming because their main post-runway activity was sleeping — and understandably so. Who wouldn't want a nap after that intense finale? As for the judges, they're all friends, so they hung out with each other backstage after the show.

7. The Smell of Success

Winner Geoffrey Mac took his collection one step further and created a signature scent for the models!

8. A Secret Second Show

How did the production team capture everything at the perfect moment during the show? Well, we'll let you in on a little secret... they shot the runway show twice in order to get all the shots they needed — and to show off the incredible collections from the designers.

9. Fashion and Fans

The judges didn't head home right away after the show was over. They actually stuck around to take photos with fans that were in attendance! Love that.
