Kandi Burruss Shares an Update on Mama Joyce and Todd Tucker’s Relationship
The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member said things between her mom and husband are heading in the “right direction.”
As Bravo fans know, Mama Joyce Jones hasn’t always been fond of Kandi Burruss’ husband, Todd Tucker, and while they have managed to keep things civil over the years, this has never stopped The Real Housewives of Atlanta matriarch from shading her son-in-law.
On Season 15 Episode 3 of RHOA, viewers got to see Mama Joyce snub Todd when she was prompted to name “three nice things about [him]” during a Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen game of “Truth or Drink!” at last year’s BravoCon.
And in Mama Joyce fashion, her responses weren’t all that positive, saying that Todd is “still short,” that he “shaved his beard some,” and that he’s “very nice to his kids.”
Fast-forward to RHOA’s Season 15 finale (which aired on August 27) and things seemed to be steadily on track for the in-laws, as Mama Joyce showed support at Kandi and Todd’s event to promote their new film, The Pass. Here, Kandi revealed where the relationship between her mother and her husband currently stands.

Kandi Burruss on Mama Joyce and Todd Tucker’s Relationship
Shortly after the movie’s spicy trailer premiered, Kandi checked in with her mom to get her reaction to it. “Mom! So you think everybody gonna come out and see it or wanna stream it?” Kandi asked.
“I hope so,” Mama Joyce replied. “Just long as you’re happy and everything, that’s what’s important.”
While basking in the audience’s positive reactions to the movie, Kandi couldn’t help but ponder Mama Joyce’s fractured bond with Todd, revealing that their “relationship is up and down.”
During Kandi’s confessional, she explained what her family is doing to get to a better place. “We have not done family therapy, but my mother has been going to her counseling sessions,” she said.
Kandi concluded her sentiments by expressing how much her mom’s appearance at the premiere of her and Todd’s movie trailer meant to her, saying, “My mother coming tonight to be supportive is a step in the right direction.”

On the Season 15 finale, Kandi’s end card revealed that she and Todd have “yet to find a distributor” for The Pass. However, Bravoholics are in for a treat because the highly anticipated movie is coming exclusively to Peacock on August 27.

In April, Kandi and Todd celebrated their wedding anniversary, and in honor of their special day, they took to Instagram to post heartfelt tributes to each other. Both shared memorable snippets from their big day along with a few loving words.
“Wow [nine] years! This has been one of the easiest things I’ve done,” Todd wrote about marrying the award-winning singer, while Kandi called her husband the “perfect match” in one of her posts.
Todd and Kandi’s Instagram posts garnered lots of love from fans, friends, and family, including Mama Joyce, who commented, “Happy anniversary to my daughter and son-in-law.” She continued, “I’m happy to say I didn’t lose a daughter I gained a son.”
