Tom Sandoval's Assistant Ann Maddox Once Starred on The Office
Ann appeared in the U.S. sitcom and other TV series years before her Vanderpump Rules debut.
Ann Maddox has quite the resume.
The multi-hyphenate was introduced to Bravo fans in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, which highlighted her role as Tom Sandoval’s personal assistant. But, as pointed out by several X (f.k.a. Twitter) users, Ann is no stranger to the small screen and previously appeared in one of the most beloved and acclaimed sitcoms in TV history.
Tom Sandoval's assistant shared the screen with Steve Carell
Ann made a cameo in The Office Season 4 episode titled “Money,” in which she played an unnamed telemarketer who worked alongside Michael Scott (Steve Carell). The 2007 scene begins with Michael explaining the Die Hard franchise to a group of co-workers who appear to be hanging on his every word. One of the male staffers was so impressed with the breakdown that he encouraged Michael to “review movies” — a suggestion that Ann quickly co-signed.

Ann Maddox's Pre-Vanderpump Rules Acting Career
According to Ann's LinkedIn page, she began working for Tom Sandoval Inc. in December 2020 and spent the past three-plus years serving as Tom’s assistant. Before that role, Ann had worked as a restaurant host/server, a transcriber, a post-production assistant, as well as a TV and movie actress. Her filmography includes credits on Awkward, Grandfathered, 2 Broke Girls, Indebted, and The Real O’Neals.
Ann opened up about her work life in a recent interview with The Daily Dish, explaining why she didn’t quit working for Tom after his 2023 cheating scandal involving his now ex-girlfriend, Ariana Madix.
“Is it that weird to want to find a new job before leaving your old job? I thought this was normal,” Ann said about her decision to stay. “I’ve been told in the state of California, you can’t collect unemployment if you quit your job. Los Angeles is pretty expensive. Plus, the entertainment industry is still pretty fragile after two major union strikes and the blow of the pandemic. I don’t have parents to lean on like a lot of people do… I don’t have a backup plan. If I don’t pay rent I can’t just ‘go home.’”
Ann Maddox looked to Ariana Maddix for a new job
Ann told The Daily Dish she “love[d]” working for Tom “at times,” but it became increasingly “stressful” as she served as Tom and Ariana’s point of communication. Viewers got a taste of Ann’s discontent in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 10 when Ariana revealed she was looking to hire an assistant.
Ann immediately expressed interest in the job and landed an interview at Tom and Ariana’s Valley Village home. However, the situation quickly became messy after Tom caught wind of the interview and accused his ex-girlfriend of trying to “poach” his assistant.
Ann Maddox lands a job with Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney
In an extended version of Episode 10 (now streaming exclusively on Peacock), Ariana revealed she had hired Ann to work at Something About Her — the much-anticipated sandwich shop she’s opening with Katie Maloney. Ariana said Ann would "help out with some sandwich shop stuff," but kept details to a minimum.
“Ann needs a job, and we need to hire someone,” Katie said in the uncensored episode. “She’s got to look out for herself. Tom Sandoval is not her main priority.”
