"I Didn't Even Care": Every Time Jax Taylor Was Caught in a Cheating Scandal

"Jax Taylor cheats" was a common allegation while he was involved in multiple messy relationships during his time on Vanderpump Rules.

By Caitlin Schunn

Almost everyone is guilty of cheating at one time or another on Vanderpump Rules, but no one became more infamous for his many dalliances than Jax Taylor, as Jax Taylor cheating scandals took center stage throughout much of the series. The lies and coverups became so second nature for the SUR bartender, he even once admitted to former girlfriend Stassi Schroeder on her podcast he might be a bit of a sociopath.

How to Watch

Watch The Valley on Peacock.

“He’s a promiscuous dude who dabbles in monogamy,” Tom Schwartz said during Season 3 to describe Jax and his girlfriends.

Jax even admitted on the E! reality series House of Villains he's cheated on every girlfriend he's ever had.

As he looks to trade bottle service for baby bottles with his (now-estranged) wife, Brittany Cartwright, and son, Cruz, on Bravo’s new show The Valley with several other couples, we’re taking a look back at Jax’s relationships — including all the times Jax cheated and was unfaithful.

Jax Taylor Cheats on Stassi Schroeder

From the start of Vanderpump Rules in 2013, rumors swirled that Jax had cheated on his girlfriend, Stassi, and had even gotten a woman pregnant while on a vacation to Las Vegas. By the end of Season 1, he finally admitted to straying.

“This is going to be really hard for me to say … I did go to Vegas and have relations with somebody else,” Jax confessed during a sit-down with Stassi.

As Stassi began to cry, she said, “You spent the past two months lying to me. Lying to my best friends … When you were the piece of sh-t the whole entire time. You knew how scared I was of cheating. Why? Why? Was it worth it? ... What did I ever do to you to deserve this?”

By 2016, Stassi asked Jax to be on her podcast, Straight Up With Stassi, and address why he cheated.

“I’m a bad example, but it just came really easy,” Jax replied. “It was like instinct. That’s really sad and that’s really disturbing but it almost became like I knew I was going to do it … I didn’t think about it. I just did it. I didn’t even care.”

Did Jax and Kristen hook up?

Yes, they did in Season 2.

In Season 2, Jax was once again at the center of a cheating rumor while trying to win back Stassi, but this time with Stassi’s best friend, Kristen Doute — who happened to be dating Jax’s friend, Tom Sandoval.

Stassi suspected the two had hooked up, and although they denied it for a long time, Jax finally admitted the liason happened while he watched the 2011 crime drama, Drive, with Kristen at her apartment with Sandoval. The revelation led to a heated moment between Stassi and Kristen slapping, as well as a confrontation between Sandoval and Jax.

Jax Taylor Cheats During Love Triangle with Carmen and Tiffany

Jax’s cheating pattern continued in Season 3, when he once again found himself in the middle of a mess and dating two women at the same time: Carmen Dickman and Tiffany Matthews.

“I’m trying to be honest with both of these girls … I don’t want to lose either of them,” Jax told Sandoval during the second episode of the season, although Tiffany later said she didn't know about Carmen.

But breaking up and dating two women over and over for months wasn’t where his problems ended. In Episode 9, Jax, Peter Madrigal, Sandoval, and Schwartz took a guys trip to San Diego, complete with nightclub entrances and a hotel suite, that was set up by his girlfriend, Tiffany. Hungover and confused the next morning, Jax said he didn’t remember the night before.

“You know what the f-ck happened. I know if I brought girls back here you’d be sure and tell everyone about it,” Sandoval told him, but Jax still claimed he was too drunk to recall this.

Schwartz also admitted to knowing what happened, saying, “Honestly, the noises I heard [in the bathroom] painted quite the soundscape in my mind.”

Jax later claimed that he was only in the bathroom with the mystery woman because she was puking, and he had to help her.

“For a guy that’s been telling lies his entire life, he’s pretty sh-tty at it,” Schwartz commented.

When Jax called Tiffany and told her there’d been girls in their room, she was understandably upset, and did not attend Scheana Shay’s bachelorette party in Miami as planned. Eventually, the two ended it for good.

Did Jax cheat on Brittany?

Yes, he did during Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules.

We first met the future Mrs. Cauchi (Jax Taylor’s legal last name) in Season 4, as Jax got his new girlfriend from Kentucky, Brittany, a job as a waitress at SUR.

But the couple went through a rough patch in Season 6, when once again, Jax was caught up in rumors that he’d cheated with another coworker.

“Tell me the truth. You did have sex with her?” Brittany asked him during a confrontation in Episode 2. When Jax admitted to cheating, Brittany angrily told Jax to “rot in hell.”

Compared to his past affairs, Jax 'fessed up to what he did relatively quickly.

“I think over the seasons, everyone’s like, ‘Oh, Jax, you’re a liar,’” he said to Bravo. “So I’ve done this in the past, where I’ve denied it. It doesn’t really do anything. I didn’t want to lie about it. It was one of those things that was eating me up inside as it is. And I just wanted to own it.”

Despite a breakup, the two reconciled. Jax pointed to the loss of his father in December 2017 and how Brittany was there to support him, as part of the reason the two made up.

“I see him every single day making efforts, and he’s completely changed the way he treats me, the way he talks to me, the way he listens to me,” Brittany said. “Every single thing about our relationship is better … whenever you know somebody as well as I know Jax, you can just tell.”

Are Jax and Brittany divorcing over cheating?

The two married on June 29, 2019, with their vows airing in Season 8. Recently, however, the two have announced they are separated, although neither has mentioned cheating for being the reason behind the split.

"Jax and I are taking time apart, and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health," Brittany said.

Instead, it seems other marital issues are proving to be too much for their family.

"The truth is, is that we have just been fighting and not on the same page for a while now and it was just becoming a negative space in our own house," Brittany told E! News. "I just don't want that for our son [Cruz]. I don't want him growing up thinking it's normal to live like that."

Jax, for his part, has denied cheating — or his bar, like Brittany's mother suspected.

“It’s actually the one thing that’s been really great in Brittany and I’s life right now,” Jax told The Daily Dish about the Los Angeles bar. “It’s the one thing that’s keeping us really strong.”

Watch Jax and Brittany navigate their relationship on the series premiere of The Valley on March 19 on Bravo and the next day on Peacock.
