James Kennedy’s New Pool Has an Epic Nod to Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney (PICS)
The Vanderpump Rules DJ found a buoyant way to celebrate his friends during a pool party at his new home in L.A.
There’s something about James Kennedy’s pool — and it involves two of his Vanderpump Rules castmates. The DJ recently hosted a party at his new Los Angeles home, which he moved into with his girlfriend, Ally Lewber, earlier this year. (You can tour their first home together in the clip above.)
After years of apartment living, James is thrilled to finally have a house of his own. And this summer, he’s particularly psyched to have a party-ready yard and pool deck. When he invited pals Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix over to splash around in it, he made sure to add a tribute to their latest business venture.
James Kennedy’s Something About Her Pool Float
Katie shared a peek inside James’ pool party in her recent Instagram Stories. Her videos offered a look at the floats gliding across the sparkling surface of the music maestro’s turquoise pool, including tube floats with stripes and candy-colored patterns, as well as a yellow-and-white raft with a cute nod to Ariana and Katie. The Floating Cabana Bar from Funboy ($175) was capped with a yellow-and-white striped awning with a jaunty fringe border. It also had a sign that read “Something About Her.”
Of course, the phrase references Ariana and Katie’s forthcoming sandwich shop, which is set to open soon in West Hollywood. When Something About Her opens, the Parisian-inspired café will serve sandwiches in flavors such as spicy turkey and egg salad. But at James’ party, the floating café was only slinging sunshine and good vibes.
Katie and Scheana Shay — who also swung by the bash — shared more posts from the pool party. Posing beside the pool with her friends in the background, Katie wrote, “Tan babes ... and me. The ghost.” Scheana’s pics showed Ariana soaking in the sun’s rays, dancing in the pool in a neon green bikini.

When they’re not hanging out with pals, Katie and Ariana have been hard at work on their café. And yes, sometimes that work involves slipping into a “carb coma.”
Last month, Katie shared a behind-the-scenes look at a bread tasting to help her and Ariana add “the best sandwiches” to the menu.
“We can’t just have sliced bread. What are you thinking?” Katie quipped over an Instagram Story of several types of bread. “And, yeah, now I’m slipping into a carb coma, ’cause that is a real thing… I cannot wait for y’all to taste our sandwiches.”
