Find Out the Unexpected Reason Katie Maloney Just Issued an Apology

The Vanderpump Rules cast member revealed what was "interesting" about this particular subject matter.

By Cynthia Robinson

One thing we love about Katie Maloney: she loves to share her hot takes with fans on her social media page. One of her recent takes, however, caused her to issue an apology.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Peacock and the Bravo app.

While posting to her Instagram Stories, the Vanderpump Rules cast member shared her thoughts about chips — or snacks — or chips — or...well, you can be the judge — and the conversation got a little heated, causing her to later apologize for her stance in the "debate."

Keep reading to see exactly how this went down.

Katie Maloney debates fans about what's considered a "chip" or a "snack"

On December 7, Katie first hopped on her Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of a text conversation with a pal debating the idea of Funyons being labeled as "chips" and not "snacks." In the screenshot, we could see the friend circling the food being labeled as "chips" on an app for the 7/11 store and writing, "[I]nteresting."

Katie then retorted, "Cheetos aren't f-ckin chips either. I'm tired of having this fight," pointing out that Cheetos were also under the "chips" section on the app.

Katie further proved her point that neither Funyons nor Cheetos should be labeled as "snacks," pointing out the detail on the website for each snack food and quipping, "Interesting."

The sandwich shop owner then reposted a social media user who asked about Takis, the Mexican brand of rolled corn tortilla chips. She initially posted a sticker of a woman yelling "SNAAAACK!" over it, then sharing another Story conceding her designation.

"Fine. Takis are chips. Since they are in fact rolled chips. An egregious form but whatever," she wrote. "Apologies for the discourse."

The menu at Something About Her

Honestly, we could talk about chips — or snacks — or chips — all day, and we always appreciate Katie's take, considering how particular she is about food items.

Some more food items Katie's particular about? Those on the menu at her and Ariana Madix's forthcoming sandwich shop, Something About Her. Though we're still waiting on the the Los Angeles spot's opening date, we already have gotten a taste of the delicious-sounding menu.

“Our menu is great, and we’re really excited about that,” Katie hinted at during BravoCon 2023

Earlier this year on a podcast, Katie said the shop would include traditional as well as some spicy offerings. "You’re gonna have a traditional turkey, but maybe with a little bit of spice or kick to it; a spicy Italian; I love a good egg-salad sandwich,” she said. “We gotta have some seasonal salads we can rotate, depending on the time of year… We wanna do beer and wine. Ariana, she can make a lot of wine-based cocktails. She has the skills for that.”
