While North Texas was safe from the path of Hurricane Harvey, The Real Housewives of Dallas’ D’Andra Simmons witnessed its destruction secondhand through the experiences of loved ones.

How to Watch

“A lot of my friends, unfortunately, were affected,” D’Andra told The Daily Dish podcast hosts Rachael Roberts and Megan Segura. Many of her friends and family lost their homes and businesses due to flooding caused by Harvey.

“My niece lives in Rockport and lost her home,” she shared. D’Andra’s niece and her children were going to relocate to another family member’s home, but realized it would be too disruptive to their lives to move schools. “We’ve done a GoFundMe to get her settled and so her kids can stay down at least in the Houston area.”

D'Andra sympathizes with those who were affected by Hurricane Harvey as well as Hurricane Irma. “I mean it was just devastating,” said the Dallas housewife, who has donated to a number of relief efforts. “I encourage people to donate. I’ve donated, you know, to the Red Cross and to Salvation Army and to Unicef as well.”

To help those affected by the hurricanes, go to redcross.org, call 1- 800-RED CROSS or text the word IRMA to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
