The Vanderpump Rules mom made the declaration on Instagram this week, shortly after announcing her pregnancy with baby No. 2. The post was a photo of Lala with her arms wrapped around a giant tree trunk while she was on a hike in her home state of Utah. She confirmed the snap was taken sometime in 2020 as she prepared to welcome her first child, Ocean Kent Emmett — her now-3-year-old daughter whom she shares with her ex-fiancé.

Although the tree hug seemed like a cute, inconsequential moment, Lala revealed it marked the beginning of a sweet pregnancy tradition.

“When I just found out I was pregnant with Ocean, I went to Utah, did a beautiful hike, and felt the need to hug this tree (it sounds weird I know),” she wrote in the March 15 Instagram Story. “I wanted to receive its energy — it’s grounded and strong. Peaceful. I wanted to pass that to my baby. I attribute a bit of her spirit to this moment…”

Minutes after posting the throwback, the former SUR host shared a more recent picture of her and her young daughter embracing a tree trunk in Joshua Tree National Park.

“… After I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd baby, I found a tree that spoke to me,” she captioned the picture. “This round we both got to receive it for our new addition. I’m a proud pregnant tree hugger.”

Lala Kent announces the due date for baby No. 2

A split of reactions to Lala Kent's 2nd pregnancy announcement.

Lala, who celebrated Ocean’s 3rd birthday earlier this week, is expected to give birth toward the end of summer. She announced her due date during the Vanderpump Rules After Show, saying it was set for early September, just a day before her own birthday.

“We’re bumping, and expecting a baby in September,” she said. “My due date is September 1, which is wild because I’m September 2.”

Lala Kent opens up about her pregnancy journey and being a single mom

Lala previously confirmed her second child was conceived through intrauterine insemination (IUI) — an artificial insemination procedure that increases the chances of pregnancy. The single mom said she chose the IUI route after exploring other options, such as adoption, but it was her mom who suggested she use a sperm donor.

“I’ve always been a single parent, so that part didn’t scare me,” she said during the March 12 episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show. “When my mom brought up, ‘What about a donor?’, it just kind of seemed like a no-brainer... It was like, ‘Hold up. I can get the baby, I don’t have to deal with the 50-50 chance of it working out — because even if you have a great relationship, and you separate, you still have to share your kid.

“That is gut-wrenching, and I never want to experience that ever again in my whole life,” she said in reference to her past relationship with Ocean’s father. “I have such a stellar support system… I don’t feel like a single parent. I feel like I[‘ve] got all hands on deck.”
